124th Fighter Group ANG Boise Air Terminal (Gowen Field), Idaho F-4G, C-26A 190th Fighter Squadron

The 190th FS is the group's flying component and has the F-4G currently assigned. The 190th Fighter Squadron was formed in October 1946 with P-51Ds, and was called to active service in April 1951 as the 190th Fighter-Bomber Squadron until returned to state control in December 1952. It was redesignated the 190th FIS with F-86As in November 1953, and had F-94Bs assigned in September 1955. The unit joined the 124th FIG in April 1956 and converted to the F-89B, before re-equipping with the F-86L in July 1959 and the F-102A in October 1964. The squadron won the F-102A catagory at the 1974 William Tell competition. The unit became the 190th TRS in October 1975 with conversion to RF-4C, acting as the replacement training unit for the reconnaissance Phantom. The squadron was redesignated the 190th TFS in October 1991 with the assignment of the F-4G.
